These standards follow the guidelines set by the College of Dietitians of Ontario, the College of Dietitians of Alberta, and also incorporates best practices outlined by Dietitians of Canada (DC).
These guidelines clearly outline the expectations for content sharing, as well as the detailed procedures for addressing inappropriate comments on our social media platforms. Furthermore, they are thoughtfully designed to ensure that all interactions consistently align with the integrity of our practice and, consequently, foster trust with our clients and the broader community.
1. Approved Platforms
We engage with clients and the community through the following platforms:
• Empowered Eating platforms, e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.
We use these platforms to share educational content, health tips, news, and information about our services. Moreover, in addition to providing valuable resources, all shared content consistently aligns with our mission to promote health, wellness, and nutrition. Furthermore, by regularly updating our platforms, we aim to engage our community effectively and support their journey toward better well-being.
2. Posting Guidelines
Our social media content provides valuable, science-based information supporting healthy living. These guidelines apply to all posts:
• Professionalism: All posts will be factual, evidence-based, and professional.
• Confidentiality: We respect client privacy and never share personal or confidential information without explicit consent.
• Respect: We foster an inclusive, supportive environment. Our content reflects diverse cultures, identities, and perspectives.
• No Medical Advice: We do not provide individual medical or dietary advice on social media. For personalized guidance, please consult a registered dietitian or healthcare provider.
3. Procedure for Addressing Inappropriate Comments
Empowered Eating prioritizes a positive, respectful online space. We enforce a zero-tolerance policy toward inappropriate, offensive, or disrespectful comments, including but not limited to:
• Hate speech
• Personal attacks
• Discriminatory language
• Harassment or threats
Our procedure for addressing inappropriate comments is as follows:
• Step 1: Review: All comments will be reviewed to determine if they violate our guidelines.
• Step 2: Warning (if applicable): If a comment is inappropriate but not severely offensive, the individual will receive a polite warning and be encouraged to engage respectfully.
• Step 3: Removal or Block: If the comment is harmful or offensive, we reserve the right to remove it and block the user from further interaction on our platforms.
• Step 4: Reporting: In cases of serious violations, including threats or harassment, we will report the user to platform administrators and, if necessary, take legal action.
4. General Procedure for Engagement
