How to Work with a Registered Dietitian?

Here’s a simple step-by-step guide for the process:

1. Explore Your Options

Not sure if Empowered Eating is right for you? Start with a free 20-minute discovery call to ask questions and learn how nutrition counselling can support your goals.

If you already know you’d like to begin, you can skip ahead and request your first appointment directly.

2. Choose a Package

Take a look at our services and nutrition packages and pricing to find the option that best fits your needs.

You can select from:

  • Single Initial Session – initial consultation only, without a meal plan
  • Two Sessions with Meal Plan – includes initial consultation, meal planning session, personalized meal plan
  • Specialized Packages: The Balanced Path, The Menopause Support, and The Elimination Reset Packages

If you’ve already had an initial consultation with Empowered Eating within the past 8–12 months, you can also purchase follow-up sessions in bundles of 1, 3, 5, or 10, depending on your needs and goals.

3. Booking Confirmation

Once your appointment request is received, you’ll get a confirmation email from Empowered Eating with next steps.

4. Complete Your Intake Form

Before your first session, you’ll be asked to fill out a secure digital intake form. This helps us understand your health history, lifestyle, and nutrition goals so that your consultation is tailored to you.

5. Initial Nutrition Consultation

Your first session is a comprehensive assessment. Together, we’ll:

  • Review your intake form
  • Discuss your health concerns and goals
  • Provide education tailored to your needs
  • Answer your questions
  • Create an initial action plan to get you started

6. Meal Planning Session (if included in your package)

This 45-minute session focuses only on meal planning. You’ll work with the dietitian to outline foods you enjoy, lifestyle considerations, cultural and religious preferences, dietary needs, and budget. This information will guide the creation of your personalized meal plan.

7. Receive Your Customized Meal Plan

This 45-minute session focuses only on meal planning. You’ll work with the dietitian to outline foods you enjoy, lifestyle considerations, cultural and religious preferences, dietary needs, and budget. This information will guide the creation of your personalized meal plan.

8. Ongoing Support with Follow-Up Sessions

If your package includes follow-ups, these are typically scheduled weekly or bi-weekly. Follow-up sessions are used to:

  • Track progress
  • Adjust your plan as needed
  • Troubleshoot challenges
  • Provide continued guidance and support

9. Rescheduling & Cancellations

Life happens! If you can’t make an appointment, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance so that we can open the time for another client. (See our cancellation & rescheduling policy at booking for full details.)

10. Payment, Billing & Insurance

Payment is required at the time of service, unless you’ve purchased a package. All packages must be paid in full at the time of purchase and are non-refundable and non-transferable.

We accept:

  • Credit cards
  • Interac e-transfer

You will receive a receipt when your payment is processed, and an invoice after each completed session that includes the service date and “Paid in full.” Most insurance companies require both documents for reimbursement, so please keep them for your claim.
